The Bondi to Coogee Walk

Bondi to Coogee Hike

After almost 18 months of living in Sydney I have finally completed the iconic Bondi to Coogee walk. I have been wanting to do this walk since moving to Sydney, but there are so many adventures to be had in Sydney, that this one kept getting bumped off the list. And I wanted to wait until summer was over and it was not as crowded.

Bondi Beach Sydney

The walk is truly beautiful and it is hard to believe how lucky we are to have access to such stunning coastline. I started my walk from Bondi and it took a little over an hour to reach Coogee. The walk winds and weaves along the coastline the entire way. You pass jagged rocks, high cliff faces, the expanse of the ocean and beautiful little beaches.

Bondi to Coogee walk SydneyThe first beach you reach is Tamarama. A lovely area that seemed a little quieter than Bondi Beach. You could make a whole day of this walk and stop at each beach along with the way and have a swim or rest, while taking in the scenery.

Tamarama beach SydneyLocals have the luxury of having such beauty at their doorstep. Water sports are definitely the popular way to relax in these parts, whether is be sun bathing, surfing, swimming or fishing.

Tamarama SydneyAs you walk past Tamarama, the next beach you reach is Bronte. They do all look very similar but each beach and area definitely has its own vibe. Once thing that is consistent is how each beach is enjoyed by all.

Following Bronte you arrive at Clovelly Beach and then on to Coogee. Once at Coogee, there are many places to sit back and enjoy the view.

If are in Sydney and have not had the chance to do this walk, then add it to your list. Even in May, the paths were very crowded. I really enjoyed this time of year as it was not too hot. I would recommend doing the walk during the week if you can or early in the morning before the crowds. It is an easy walk, with some stairs and a couple of steep inclines.

Getting there:

From the CBD of Sydney you can take the train from Town Hall or Central to Bondi Junction. Depending which direction you want to do the walk in, either get a bus to Bondi Beach or Coogee from Bondi Junction.
